Design Wall Monday - Sept 2

I don't know what happened.  I was sure there was one more week of August left.  Which is odd, because I knew school was starting on Tuesday.  Whatever happened, I'm a bit behind on my "end of month" activities here on the blog.  So, we'll combine a Back to Square One mystery update, with design wall Monday today.  Suitable, because that is exactly what is on my design wall.

Here is the mystery quilt, as of the August clue.  We won't discuss exactly when this step was finished :)  The new clue is out - more log cabin blocks.  Hopefully I can get them done before the end of the month.

I am loving the look of this quilt - it might actually end up being one of the first mystery quilts I do that I actually love the end result. Usually my colour choices let me down, but I'm really liking the way this one is coming together.  I think Judy did a great job of explaining the colour choices (what fabrics needed to pop, which ones should be in the same family, etc) and made it easy to make good choices.

  1. Your colors are beautiful! Thanks . . one of the reasons I so rarely participate in a mystery is that I always have the wrong colors in the wrong places so I hoped to give a good enough explanation as to how I would have chosen these colors but then again . . who likes the colors I use? :)

  2. What an intriguing design this is turning out to be! I like the large center. Too often center medallions seem to get overwhelmed by the borders.

  3. Krista, I love your quilt, and the colors great. I've printed off all the steps for this, and that's all I have done so far. Checked my fabrics, don't have enough of any one color to get started, so will be late as shopping will take awhile. That's ok with me, I love Judy's patterns and have all her books.

I agree with you on the way mysteries have turned out for me in the past. If given this good info on color choices, then they turn out well, maybe. Enjoy your blog! Bev

  4. It is turning out so pretty. These log cabin borders really started giving it personality, though I loved it since the center star. Your's looks so different from mine even though they are both batik quilts. I, too, am really enjoying this mystery.
