Northern Dance

At a retreat last year, I was hunting for a project. I decided to play with a jelly roll that I had, and a bargello pattern.  I didn't have enough fabric to make the whole quilt (which I only figured out after I started) so I did a truncated version of the pattern.

I wasn't much to look at, in this orientation.

But then I turned it 90 degrees, and the first thing I saw in the result was the Northern Lights. It needed a few tweaks to flow better, but I was pretty happy with the result.

It just needed a few mountains in the foreground to give it a better vibe.  Strategic placement of the mountains hid some awkward corner, and the result is just what I was going for.

All finished an quilted.
