Progress

I finished my rainbow top yesterday.  The borders are added, and it's now about 45x60, a more reasonable size/shape for a quilt.  But I have a dilemma.  I put it up on the wall on top of the backing I've been building for it. But the colours show through. Even with batting in between, I can still see the shadows of the coloured strips from the front.  I'm very sad. I was looking forward to this 2-sided quilt, but I think I'm going to have to go boring old white for the back of this one.  Any other suggestions for me?

Here's a full view of the (intended) back of the quilt.

In the meantime, I consoled myself with some new pillowcases.  I've had this fabric pulled for months, and finally cut and put together my pillow cases (complete with french seams) last night.

The white is a bit more 'blah' than I was hoping for, but I have 2 more cut out with more interesting colour arrangements, so they'll just have to live on top of these 2.

I'm linking up over at WIPs be Gone today.

  1. What about an extra layer of plain white fabric between the top and the batting? Almost like a foundation for foundation piecing.

  2. Have you tried doubling your batting? It will make your quilt heavier, but it might be worth it.

  3. Two layers of batting - one a heavier cotton? Or a double layer of the backing ( the print and a white)?
