I need to pick a border for Judy's mystery quilt, so I can get this one completed. It's not on my design wall, because that still has the mystery quilt on it.
For this quilt, there is just one more border to do, and I can have my first finish of the year. These are the options I have. The first one is the plan - what the pattern calls for. The second is the medium purple that's used in the stars, and the final picture is the dark purple from the stars and sashing.
Opinions? I'm leaning towards the first, even though it was intially my least favourite option. The purples are just feeling too harsh when they suddenly jump into the border.

This is going to be gorgeous! The first fabric gets lost... at least in the picture it does. I like the third purple, but what if you made a skinny stop border with the first purple and then a wider border with the third? It will be exciting to have a finish!
ReplyDeleteYour quilt turned out great. I'm partial to the medium purple, but any of them will work well. There are some times that I hate having to make those border decisions! Too many great options!
ReplyDeleteI like the third purple the best.
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is beautiful the way it is. Does it really need another border?
ReplyDeleteOMGosh, you quilt is just beautiful !! You made an excellent choice of fabrics for this project.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Julia, I doesn't need another border.
ReplyDeleteI'd say a skinny border of the first fabric, to match the one out of it you've already done, and the a wider border of the medium purple.
ReplyDeleteI like the dark purple. I think the colours in the quilt are quite dramatic, and the first border looks kind of dull beside them. This is a gorgeous quilt!
ReplyDeleteWhat about using the medium or dark purple as a skinny border and then using your first choice for a wide outer border? It's a gorgeous quilt.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! I agree with your choice. The purples contrast too strongly; the medium value of the one you like harmonizes better.
ReplyDeleteWOW. Great border on it already. I do like the dark purple best for the final.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Rebecca--a narrow border of one of the purples, then a wider border of the first choice.
ReplyDeleteSo many different opinions--are you sorry you asked?
I like the first one but think it looks beautiful just as it is. Depends on what size you want it.
ReplyDeleteI love the third, it makes the quilt pop, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat about the gold you used in the pieced borders? Do you have enough of it for the final border? If not, I like the darker borders, they make a nice frame for the center.
