The first Design Wall Monday of 2016, and I have a couple of things to show you. These are both mysteries from my New Year's Day blitz. I should have Bonnie Hunter's Allietare up here, but it's been pushed aside while I try to finish what should be quicker projects.
First, the mystery quilt from Quiltbug.com. I might have been happier with a more consistent value for these blocks. Or a better spread of the mix, I'm not sure. The little squares are all blending together, and those 3 dark colours just jump right out. Oh well, that's how a mystery goes sometimes. I need to add a little bit to this, to make it bigger, and then put a border on. It should make a nice donation quilt for someone.
This is the mystery from quilting.about.com. It was more complex than most 1-day mysteries are, but I love how it came together. I decided to use just 18 blocks and set it on point. The setting triangles are giving me fits, but I should get them finished up later today and I can get this quilt assembled. No borders, so it's done once I sew the rows together.
Linking up over at Patchwork Times today.
I like the Purple and Gold Mystery. I copied clues for the Merry Mayhem Mystery, but have spent all my spare time on Allietare. Too many quilts- so little time. Nice to see different ones in Blogland today.
ReplyDeleteI like both of your mysteries. I think the first looks like a city street map and the second has a Celtic knot feel. They're both lovely.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the yellow/gold mystery was just ONE day! It's gorgeous. I agree with Mary, nice to see something other than Allietare.
